BYD Austria published this bulletin on 27 Apr 2026 for a roll-out in April – May 2026. Everything below is translated from the German PDF; we have not installed this release on a car.

New
- Introduction of a trailer mode with adjustable towing weight.
- A switch for the lane departure warning added to the quick-access menu (drop-down menu) of the central display.
- A setting added for the operating logic of the ACC speed adjustment (for example via the steering-wheel controls).

New features#
Trailer mode with adjustable towing weight#
Before the update the trailer mode ran without any selection of the towing weight. After the update the towing weight can be selected.
Under Trailer mode → Trailer weight setting there are two options: 0–99 kg (light load) and 100–750 kg (heavy load). The same screen carries an “Automatic indicator detection” toggle.
Warning printed with the setting: for your driving safety, select the correct trailer weight. The vehicle adapts its power output and its driver-assistance strategies accordingly. Do not exceed the maximum permissible towing load.
Lane departure warning switch added to the drop-down menu of the central display#
Before the update the lane departure warning could only be reached in the ADAS settings.
After the update a switch has been added to the drop-down menu of the central display, for quick and simple operation.
Switch for the operating logic of the ACC speed adjustment#
Before the update the ACC speed setting logic used one fixed mode: short press ±5 km/h, long press ±1 km/h.
After the update the ACC speed setting logic supports two modes: short press ±5 km/h with long press ±1 km/h, or short press ±1 km/h with long press ±5 km/h.
Optimisations#
Radio station update logic optimised#
Before the update, once the background scan had finished all stations were loaded in one go and newly received stations were no longer added afterwards.
After the update stations are updated in real time as soon as new stations are detected.
System interface and display and prompt texts optimised#
Tyre pressure card: before the update a tyre pressure card was shown on the desktop by default. After the update no tyre pressure card is shown on the desktop.
Driving behaviour optimised for a calmer, more harmonious drive#
The ACC target-selection logic has been optimised to improve the driving experience.
Standby mode optimised and vehicle energy consumption reduced#
The charging voltage of the starter battery is adjusted intelligently in order to slow irreversible chemical ageing and extend its service life. The accompanying graphic is labelled “Low energy consumption”.
Speed limit and battery control strategy in trailer mode optimised#
After the update there is no speed limit when towing a trailer.
Different trailer modes have different SOC (battery state of charge) targets.
What we have not verified#
- This is a translation of BYD Austria’s bulletin, not a test: we have not installed V1.2.0 on a Seal 6 DM-i Touring.
- The bulletin was published by BYD’s Austrian importer. The release itself is the European one, but roll-out dates are given for Austria, and a few items are country-specific (radio services, interface languages, legal notes).
- Availability of individual features can depend on trim, model year and the head-unit hardware.
