About
BYD Lab is an independent technical reference for BYD owners: what was tested, on which car, on which software build, and how sure we are.
What this is
BYD Lab documents BYD vehicle software for the people who own the cars. Guides that have been carried out on a real car, lab notes with the evidence attached, OTA releases translated from the manufacturer's own bulletins, and app reviews that say how the review was made.
It exists because the information is scattered, undated, and usually silent about which market and which head-unit build it applies to — which is exactly what decides whether it is true for your car.
How we work
- Every article says what it was tested on. Model, market, model year and the head-unit software version. If something was not tested, it says that too.
- Claims carry their confidence. Confirmed, strong, probable, hypothesis or unknown — and never higher than the weakest piece of evidence behind them.
- Evidence is shown, not summarised. Logs, properties and screenshots, with the method used to get them.
- Age is visible. Anything not re-checked for a year says so at the top.
- Corrections are public. Articles are fixed in place with a dated entry saying what changed, never quietly edited.
Independence
BYD Lab is not affiliated with BYD Company Ltd. or any importer. Nobody pays for coverage. Where a relationship exists it is stated on the article itself in one of three forms: an affiliate link, sponsored content, or our own app — the last of which applies toSealion 7 Pilot, which we develop and review by the same criteria as everything else.
Manufacturer material — bulletins, screenshots, press photographs — is reproduced to document what changed, with the source named.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, or right on your car but not on ours, pleasetell us. Reports that include the model, market and head-unit version are the ones we can act on. The site is public atGitHub, so every change is on the record.
