Vehicle-side account functions: QR code log-in and log-out, personal information settings and personalisation settings. Integrated memory functions for the seat, the mirrors and the electric steering column, customisable themes, ambient lighting memory, cloud key unlocking and account log-in. Which of these apply depends on the equipment of the individual model.

Pop-up notice added in the instrument cluster for detected face covering#

When the multimedia system receives a face-covering signal from the DMS and the vehicle speed is above 10 km/h, the instrument display (PAD) shows the messages “Driver monitoring system not available” and “Face recognition restricted” as soon as a covering of the face, mouth or eyes is detected.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support added for selected countries#

Support is added for Croatia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Serbia.

BYD Assistant can be activated from the steering wheel controls while the screen is off#

Voice control buttons: with the screen switched off, pressing the voice control button wakes the screen and opens the voice bar.

Voice control added for switching the heating and ventilation modes off#

“Hi BYD, switch the heating off” is answered with “Heating deactivated”.

“Hi BYD, switch the ventilation on/off” is answered with “Ventilation switched on/off”.

Cloud data management added#

Switched on by default.

BYD states that it takes the protection of your privacy and your data very seriously. As soon as the vehicle is connected to the internet (WLAN or mobile data), the system automatically uploads only the necessary, securely processed data to the cloud in order to ensure service quality and security.

The following three options can be viewed at any time and switched on or off individually under Settings > System settings > General > Cloud data management: Cloud service app, Analysis and Service Improvement, and Network security.

The three cloud data options, all on by default, in Settings > System > General > Cloud-based Data Processing.

The explanatory dialog: without cellular data or WLAN the basic Vehicle System services cannot be provided.

Optimisations#

Optimisation of the radio signal switching logic to improve the user experience#

New radio functions: the system supports automatic switching between FM and DAB and searches on its own for alternative stations with identical content, in order to improve the switching speed and the stability when changing station.

When the classic broadcast signal is weak, it switches automatically to streaming radio with identical content to keep playback uninterrupted.

Optimisation of the system UI display and the text messages#

A reset function has been added to the customisation screen of the navigation bar.

After “Restore settings”, Bluetooth is enabled by default.

Restore settings on the Version tab is the reset that now leaves Bluetooth enabled.

What we have not verified#

  • This is a translation of BYD Austria’s bulletin, not a test: we have not installed V2.1.0 on a Dolphin.
  • The bulletin was published by BYD’s Austrian importer. The release itself is the European one, but roll-out dates are given for Austria, and a few items are country-specific (radio services, interface languages, legal notes).
  • Availability of individual features can depend on trim, model year and the head-unit hardware.
