New features#

Vehicle account linked to a memory function for customisable themes#

Mobile app functions: log in to the mobile app by QR code and authorise the mobile app key (requires BYD App version V2.8.0 or later).

Vehicle-side account functions: QR code log-in and log-out, personal information settings and personalisation settings. Integrated memory functions for the seat, the mirrors and the electric steering column, customisable themes, ambient lighting memory, cloud key unlocking and account log-in. Which of these apply depends on the equipment of the individual model.

Personal information settings: the avatar can be changed, but only images stored locally on the head unit can be used.

Available in 32 countries: United Kingdom, Italy, Israel, Hungary, Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Slovakia, Cyprus, Switzerland, Sweden, Portugal, Norway, Malta, Romania, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Czechia, the Netherlands, Finland, France, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Iceland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Austria, Estonia and Ireland.

The head unit shows a QR code that the BYD App scans to log the account in.

Cloud data management added#

Switched on by default.

BYD states that it takes the protection of your privacy and your data very seriously. As soon as the vehicle is connected to the internet (WLAN or mobile data), the system automatically uploads only the necessary, securely processed data to the cloud in order to ensure service quality and security.

The following three options can be viewed at any time and switched on or off individually under Settings > System settings > General > Cloud data management: Cloud service app, Analysis and Service Improvement, and Network security.

The three cloud data options, all on by default, in Settings > System > General > Cloud-based Data Processing.

The explanatory dialog: without cellular data or WLAN the basic Vehicle System services cannot be provided.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support added for selected countries#

Support is added for Croatia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Serbia.

Optimisations#

Optimisation of the radio signal switching logic to improve the user experience#

New radio functions: the system supports automatic switching between FM and DAB and searches on its own for alternative stations with identical content, in order to improve the switching speed and the stability when changing station.

When the classic broadcast signal is weak, it switches automatically to streaming radio with identical content to keep playback uninterrupted.

Optimisation of the system UI display and the text messages#

A reset function has been added to the customisation screen of the navigation bar.

After “Restore settings”, Bluetooth is enabled by default.

Icons and themes: the map icon in the App Center does not adapt to the theme skins. It keeps only the uniformly rounded corners.

Navigation bar: with reverse gear engaged and the reversing camera active, the status bar can neither be pulled down nor tapped. A mask is also added to the dock, so that it cannot be clicked.

Restore settings on the Version tab is the reset that now leaves Bluetooth enabled.

Optimisation of the deactivation conditions for ICC, so that it can also be switched off when ICC is not activated#

ICC switch rules: in the inactive state the switch can be turned off. If the operation is not permitted, tapping it triggers the message “Please exit the ADAS first.”

Ending the driving assistance: with ICC active, pressing the brake in any gear.

The toast the head unit shows when the ICC switch may not be operated.

What we have not verified#

  • This is a translation of BYD Austria’s bulletin, not a test: we have not installed V2.0.0 on a Dolphin Surf.
  • The bulletin was published by BYD’s Austrian importer. The release itself is the European one, but roll-out dates are given for Austria, and a few items are country-specific (radio services, interface languages, legal notes).
  • Availability of individual features can depend on trim, model year and the head-unit hardware.
