New features#

Radio icon added in the App Center#

Before the OTA the App Center had no separate radio entry. After the update a Radio icon sits in the App Center and opens the radio directly.

TuneIn Radio added to the BYD Store#

Streaming radio is introduced as a supplement to FM/DAB. It allows internet-based transmission, improves reception in mountainous and remote areas, and makes listening across regional borders possible.

TuneIn Radio is the first tile in the store and installs as a 17.9 MB download.

One-click account switching added in the Account Center#

When several accounts are signed in on the head unit, the account switch button can be used to change to another account.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay options added to the desktop media widget#

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can now be reached from the media widget on the home screen.

Apple CarPlay now appears as its own tile in the desktop media widget row.

Optimisations#

System UI display and text messages optimised#

The background of the system cards (widgets) has been matched to the vehicle design.

System cards such as Music now work fully with the music view on the home screen.

The boot-opening confirmation has been removed from the shortcut bar on the old platform.

There is no longer a spoken announcement when the sound mode is changed, and the karaoke pop-up is now called “Karaoke System”.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality optimised#

CarPlay reconnection interface — before: after disconnecting from a non-CarPlay screen, CarPlay stayed active in the background whatever the reconnection method. After: after disconnecting from a non-CarPlay screen, a wired reconnection can be started from the CarPlay entry and leads straight to the CarPlay interface.

Reconnection after a head unit restart — before: automatic reconnection was not supported and a manual connection was required. After: automatic reconnection is supported, both after a restart by long-pressing the power button and after the 24-hour restart.

CarPlay light/dark mode — before: it followed the light switch and was not synchronised with the light/dark mode of the head unit. After: it matches the light/dark mode of the head unit.

Activating “Hi BYD” in the CarPlay interface — before: CarPlay moved to the background and returned to the foreground once the voice assistant was closed. After: CarPlay stays in the foreground and the “Hi BYD” pop-up is shown inside the CarPlay interface.

CarPlay and Android Auto desktop music card — before: CarPlay and Android Auto were not integrated in the music card and were not shown when connected. After: both are integrated in the music card, are shown when connected, and the volume can be adjusted.

Exit logic of the surround view optimised#

If the panoramic view is activated through the P-R-D gear sequence, the switch-off threshold is raised from above 10 km/h to above 15 km/h.

The navigation bar customisation screen now offers direct shortcuts for seat heating and seat ventilation, so they can be set with a single tap from the bottom bar.

What we have not verified#

  • This is a translation of BYD Austria’s bulletin, not a test: we have not installed V2.2.0 on a Atto 2.
  • The bulletin was published by BYD’s Austrian importer. The release itself is the European one, but roll-out dates are given for Austria, and a few items are country-specific (radio services, interface languages, legal notes).
  • Availability of individual features can depend on trim, model year and the head-unit hardware.
